The Ice Magic Festival took place between the 17th and 24th of January on the shores Lake Louise at the Banff National Park in Alberta.
With ten 150 kg blocks of ice and 36 hours to work, the 12 teams of two from the UK, the Netherlands, Canada, the Russian Federation, the United States, the Philippines, and Switzerland carved out ice sculptures according to the competition's theme of "Carve a Song".

Aleksey and Egor, representing the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), placed fourth in the competition, just outside of the award range, and gained the respect of their fellow competitors - for their "Song of White Cranes" piece they achieved the majority vote to earn the Carver's Choice award.

Fedor, with the loss of his partner (due to visa issues), wasn't able to perform to his usual level - last year at this competition he, with his partner Vasily Sivtsev, took third place and earned the Carver's Choice award as well.
